Neuroscience Community Outreach Group (NCOG)

Campus:
London
Type:
Community Outreach

The Neuroscience Community Outreach Group's main aims are to run Brain Day and Brain Bee in the London area.

Brain Day involves volunteers going to grades 4-6 classrooms in the community and educating the students about the nervous system and why it is important to protect it. We educate students through interactive, fun modules about each of the 5 senses as well simple brain anatomy.

Brain Bee is a spelling bee style competition for local high school students about neuroscience trivia. NCOG will set up and run the competition and the winner will continue on to the national level. Should s/he win the national competiton then there is an international Brain Bee.

The basic mandate of NCOG is to educate elementary and high school students about neuroscience and to have fun doing it.
